Hair loss? Sneak a Peek…….

        In this era of medical sciences and robotics, where the beauty of a girl and boy has been stereotyped, hair is one of the most important entities of beautification.

 Due to this reason, however, more challenges are being adding up like hair losses due to many different reasons that are difficult to diagnosis.

Causes of hair-loss

  • Physical stress:  Hair has a programmed life cycle: a growth phase, rest phase and shedding phase. When you have a really stressful event, it can shock the hair cycle, (pushing) more hair into the shedding phase.
  • Pregnancy:  Pregnancy is one example of the type of physical stress that can cause hair loss (that and hormones). Pregnancy-related hair loss is seen more commonly after your baby has been delivered rather than actually during pregnancy.
  • Over dose of Vitamin-A: The Daily Value for vitamin A is 5,000 International Units (IU) per day for adults and kids over age 4; supplements can contain 2,500 to 10,000 IU. Intake of Vitamin more than this can trigger hair-loss, however, halting of vitamin-A intake can stop or reverse this process.
  • Lack of protein: When protein in your diet is not enough, your body may ration protein by shutting down hair growth. It can happen after 2-3 months of drop in protein intake.
  • Male pattern baldness: About two out of three men experience hair loss by age of 60, and most of the time it’s due to male pattern baldness. This type of hair loss, caused by a combination of genes and male sex hormones, usually follows a classic pattern in which the hair recedes at the temples, leaving an M-shaped hairline.
  • Heredity: Female-pattern hair loss, called androgenic or andro-genetic alopecia, is basically the female version of male pattern baldness. If you come from a family where women started to have hair loss at a certain age, then you might be more prone to it. Unlike men, women don’t tend to have a receding hairline, instead their part may widen and they may have noticeable thinning of hair.
  • Female hormones: Just as pregnancy hormone changes can cause hair loss, so can switching or going off birth-control pills. The change in the hormonal balance that occurs at menopause may also have the same result.
  • Emotional stress: Emotional stress is less likely to cause hair loss than physical stress. More often, though, emotional stress won’t actually precipitate the hair loss. It will exacerbate a problem that’s already there.
  • Anemia: Almost one in 10 women aged 20 through 49 suffers from anemia due to an iron deficiency (the most common type of anemia), which is an easily fixable cause of hair loss. You doctor will have to do a blood test to determine for sure if you have this type of anemia.
  • Hypothyroidism: Hypothyroidism is the medical term for having an underactive thyroid gland. This gland located in your neck produces hormones that are critical to metabolism as well as growth and development and, when it’s not pumping out enough hormones, can contribute to hair loss.
  • Over-styling: Vigorous styling and hair treatments over the years can cause your hair to fall out. Examples of extreme styling include tight braids, hair weaves or corn rows as well as chemical relaxers to straighten your hair, hot-oil treatments or any kind of harsh chemical or high heat.
  • Aging: It’s not uncommon to see hair loss or thinning of the hair in women as they enter their 50s and 60s. Experts aren’t sure why this happens.

Here are some of the guidelines that can assist you but at serious case, visiting the doctor can be the optimal solution.

1.Coconut oil

Coconut oil can penetrate deep into your hair shafts and prevent protein loss. This reduces breakage often caused by physical trauma like styling and use of harsh products.

How to use?

  • Take 1-2 table spoons of virgin coconut oil and massage gently into your scalp and leave for at least an hour.
  • Follow up with a conditioner and repeat 2 times a week.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a helpful home remedy for balancing the pH level of hair and scalp to promote the hair growth. It helps clean up sebum, an oil that clogs follicles and prevents hair from growing back.

How to use?

  • Simply extract the pulp from aloe vera leaf or stalk and rub it into your wet hair and keep massaging in circular motion.
  • Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse in cold water. Repeat the process thrice a week.

3. Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Amla contain Vit. C, possessing hair growth promoting activity that has proliferative effect on the dermal papilla cells in the hair follicles.

How to use?

  • Massage a little amla oil into your scalp and spread it through your hair. Leave it on for an hour.
  • Rinse it off using a mild cleanser and follow up with a conditioner.

4. Onion Juice

The antibacterial properties of onions help fight against scalp infections, while Sulphur content improves blood circulation to the hair follicles promoting hair growth and controlling loss of hair.

How to use?

  • Blend the onion and strain the mixture to obtain the juice.
  • Apply the juice to scalp and leave it for an hour then rinse it off with water.

5. Egg yolk mask

The water-soluble peptides in egg yolk possess hair growth stimulating properties helpful in treating hair loss.

How to use?

  • Whisk the egg yolk and apply it to your scalp and leave for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with shampoo and follow up with a conditioner.

6. Yogurt

 Yogurt is a rich source of probiotics lead to an acidic pH when applied in hair cuticles. It gives shinier mane and prevents damage that may trigger hair breakage and loss.

How to use?

  • Mix 2 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 table spoon of lemon and honey.
  • Apply the mixture to your scalp using hair brush and leave for half an hour.
  • Rinse thoroughly with cold water and repeat once a week.

7. Neem leaves

Neem has an excellent antifungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help you get rid of dandruff. It also helps the hair follicles to become stronger, promoting the hair growth.

How to use?

  • Take 10-12 neem leaves and boil it in water till the water reduces to half of its quantity.
  • Apply the mixture to your scalp immediately after cooling and leave the paste for half an hour.
  • Rinse with cold water and repeat the process twice a week and see the difference.
