INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY

INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY

Dance is an art with series of steps and movements that match the speed and rhythm of a piece of music or sometimes without music. It consists of purposefully selected sequences of movements.

In the memory of Jean Georges Norverre (1727-1810), the dance committee of ITI (International Theatre Institute) founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on April 29. The day is selected because it is the birth date of Mr. Jean, founder of modern Ballet and brought a huge revolution on dance.

Every year a message from well-known dance personality is circulated throughout the world. The message is translated into numerous languages and circulated throughout the world. The purpose of this celebration and the message is to bring all forms of dance together, celebrate this art world-wide, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language- DANCE.
