A Personal Exprience
Before we get admission in any college or universities as per our field of interest we have to face entrance exams. In Nepal, every year number of students give entrance exams of medical, paramedical, agriculture, veterinary science and so forth of various colleges and universities. The problem faced by each student is how to succeed in these entrance exams? how to secure good marks? how to compete with thousands of brilliant students from all over Nepal? etc, etc….
Problems that I faced during my entrance preparation days :
After the completion of +2, as all students do, I also went for my entrance exam preparation. In the beginnings, I was just frustrated and overwhelmed with many questions within myself because I could not get good marks and the marks were just remain same or decrease in each model tests. I suffered from the same problems time and again and it takes a little time to come up. At last, I was able to crack the entrance exam because I realized those entrance exams are different from exams that I had appeared in school and +2, the ultimate formula is hard work, practice and smart work.
The problems that I faced during my entrance preparation days were not my personal experiences, but these are the problems of the number of students appearing in such exams. So I decided to write about some suggestions or guidance for students that are going to face entrance exams (especially IOM/MOE/KU/BPKIHS/IE medical entrance, TU/AFU/PU/IOF agriculture, veterinary, forestry, fishery entrance) in upcoming days.
Here are the tips to crack any entrance exam:
1. Proper guidance and strong study materials:
A proper guidance from teachers, entrance experts and seniors is necessary as they can help one to collect experiences, tips and to find out the correct entrance preparation institutions which provide crash courses and long sessions in different courses. The experts can be helpful for you in finding the right and proper study material. Of course, at first, everyone needs to decide which course they want to study in future because “a day with no plans and goals is the most boring day with a careless valuable time”.
2. Smart study and value of past questions:
Solving past question papers can help us to know about the weaknesses and the important topics one need to boost on first. Working upon the weaknesses we can improve our performances and this smart study also saves our valuable time.
One need to give more time to self-study. After we took advice from our seniors, teachers, entrance experts or any coaching class, these all will not make any sense until we do self-study.
4. Appearing model tests:
Online model tests or tests organized by various related institutions can be helpful because they can help us make realize our mistakes and improve our time management skills.
5. Practice and Practice:
“Practice makes man success”…
. So continuous hard work, practice and revisions are necessary. One must be sure that they have covered all the syllabus and pattern for the exam before they start to revise. Carelessness can cause frustrations during exams.
6. Avoid simple mistakes:
We must not underestimate the easy questions and easy topics. Easy topics are the ones which are easily forgotten and can turn trickiest during exams. So regular practice and revision are necessary.
7. Motivation and belief in oneself:
Motivation is what we need in hard times when we are frustrated. Different motivational quotes, motivational videos, articles can be helpful in this regard. One need to just get started believing in his/her own capabilities.” Where there is a desire there is a way”…
Success does not come without encountering failures, obstacles and hardships on the way. So we have to learn lessons from failures and always try to fly higher than that in the previous attempt after a painful fall.” It always seems impossible until its done”- Nelson Mandela.
9. Breaks and Healthcare:
We should take breaks and enjoy our time with family and friends. Proper balance diet and sound sleep are necessary for health. One should not stay reading for hours without taking breaks. After all “health is wealth”.
At last, I would like to wish you a best of luck to get what you dream of. Thank you for reading…
